General Purpose Classroom File Server (GPC)

Already the most convenient and reliable way to transfer files, the classroom file server is now also the most secure! Using Active Directory in the classrooms has made it possible to provide reliable, secure document transfer space for classroom instruction. For instructions on how to access your server file from your office computer, choose the appropriate link below! It is important to note that the GPC server is intended to be a means of secure file transfer, not storage. Your documents are not permanently backed up and may be deleted between semesters.

Click here if you use Active Directory in your office normally and are running Windows 2000 or later version. You will be asked to run a file named "mapk.bat". This will automatically map the "K:" drive on your computer. Internet Explorer is recommended for this procedure. Other browsers may not work correctly!

Click here if you do not use an Active Directory login on your office computer, but are running Windows 2000 or later version.

Click here if you are using Mac OS.

If you have any problems with these steps, call our help line at 472 5511. Our Classroom Support Associates are available to assist you right over the phone!

USB Storage Device

USB storage devices, sometimes called Flash or Pen drives, are very useful in the classrooms! Simply plug it in to your office computer and copy your files to the appropriate drive. Slide the tiny device into your pocket and bring to the classroom. All ITG supported classrooms are equipped for this technology. In classrooms where the computer is located in a remote closet, USB extenders have been provided for your mobile media. Computer Sales has a 128MB SanDisk Micro Cruzer (pictured below) for under $20.
