Slide Projectors
In October 2004, Kodak stopped production of their long time staple, the Ektagraphic Carousel slide projector. It was a very solid technology, that reproduced large, spectacular 35mm images on any blank wall or screen. Load up to 80 pictures from your favorite family vacations and grab the wired remote, sit back and enjoy! Sadly, this long time, still image champion has been defeated by the world of computers, multimedia projectors, and digital media.
Classroom Support will no longer support slide carousel projectors installed in many of our General Purpose classrooms. Richards Hall 15 will be the only exception as the Art and Art History department depends on slides for many of their lectures. It is important to note, however, that Richards 15 was the first room to pilot the Extended Desktop feature that allows two Powerpoint presentations to be viewed simultaneously, each on their own multimedia projector. This makes it easy to show digital images side by side, just as you did with slides and carousels. This feature will be available in many lecture halls in 2007.
For those of you who may have a few slides that are just perfect for one particular lecture, don't worry, we have you covered. Digital Slide Readers are available that accept the traditional 80 slide carousels. At your request, one of our support associates can deliver a portable Digital Slide Reader to you in your classroom and make the necessary connections to show your slides on the multimedia projector.
